Administrative / Legal Assistant
Brothers & Henderson is an established, 10-attorney law practice that provides legal services for persons who experience disabling conditions and their families and provides legal services for the senior population. Areas of practice include guardianships, trusts, estate planning, probate, elder law, and special education.
We are seeking a well- organized, detail-oriented and energetic individual to support our attorney and paralegal staff. This position is full-time.
Primary Responsibilities (under the supervision of the attorney & paralegal staff):
- Drafting client and court correspondence
- Drafting legal documents,
- Reviewing and researching Court procedures for different states/counties
- E-filing Court documents
- Tracking of deadlines
- Prepare After Hearings
- Organize case files and maintain case documents
- Scheduling new and current client appointments as directed
- Accounting support / Experience with reconciling billing information
- Perform other various administrative duties as needed
- Scan documents and files
- Making copies as directed
- Occasional back-up reception duties

- Demonstrated ability to draft, edit and finalize pleadings and correspondence

Qualifications:
- Minimum of an AA degree from an accredited institution; BA degree preferred
- Paralegal Certificate strongly preferred
- Proficient with MS Office Suite; Outlook, Word, Excel as well as PDF software
- 2+ years of current legal office experience. Must have a working knowledge of concepts, terminology, principals and procedures of American law and functions and jurisdictions of local, state and federal courts and related agencies.

Paralegal – Guardianships, Trusts, Estate Planning, Probate & Elder Law

Areas of practice include guardianships, trusts, estate planning, probate, elder law, and special education.
We are currently seeking a top-notch paralegal to join our firm. This is a full-time position that will support a practice areas focusing on guardianship and trust, as well as estate and probate matters. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience with trusts, guardianships, estate planning and probate matters.
Primary Responsibilities (under the supervision of the attorney staff):
- Drafting, editing, and finalizing legal documents including trusts, guardianship reports and documents for estate planning
- Drafting client and court correspondence
- Reconciling accounting information provided by client as well as preparation of Guardian’s Report and Accounting
- Court filings (including e-filing) and scheduling hearings
- Reviewing and researching Court procedures for different states/counties
- Organize case files and maintain case documents
- Scheduling client appointments as directed
- Notarizing documents
- Tracking billable hours and applicable time keeping software
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
- 5+ years of current paralegal experience; with 2+ years specifically in Guardianships, Trusts, Estate Planning & Probate Administration.
- Excellent communication; both written and verbal
- Strong ability to track deadlines & manage court timelines
- Professional attitude and demeanor
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Self –starter with excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and delegation skills
